In support of our community, Phap Hoa Lion Dance is proud to be running a Bushfire Red Pocket Initiative for this 2020 Lunar New Year Season. This initiative is with support from Phap Hoa Temple Youth Group (GDPT Phap Hoa), Phap Hoa Buddhist Temple and is run in conjunction to the bushfire relief efforts that the Unified Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation of Australia and New Zealand are undertaking nationwide.

The last few months have continually been devastating with ongoing bushfires burning all over our country. Continual loss of property, loss of wildlife and loss of life. Graciously Australians and the world have opened up their pockets to help rebuild the properties lost, foster displaced animals and build a legacy for the lives that have been lost.

As we stand united supporting this, our team will be donating 50% of your red pocket donations directly to bushfire recovery efforts throughout Australia. These voluntary donations will be collected by feeding it to our lions during our performances.

It has been a tradition to give red pockets with a small amount of cash to our lions as we perform from restaurant to restaurant. This has always been a welcomed donation to our team. But this year we ask that we all donate generously to support the volunteer firefighters and charities who are helping everyone who has been deeply affected by the devastation. We invite you to share this initiative with other lion dance teams around Australia so that this Lunar New Year we can celebrate the prosperity and joy of 2020, as we support those who are worse off.
